1924-S Peace Dollar – PCGS AU50
“Almost uncirculated, but still salty about it.”
Meet the 1924-S Peace Dollar, graded AU50 by PCGS — which basically means it almost made it to Mint State but decided, “nah, I’d rather have some character.” This coin’s seen stuff. It’s been passed around just enough to get some light wear, but not so much that it forgot what Liberty’s hair is supposed to look like.
Struck at the San Francisco Mint, where they were like, “Let’s make Peace Dollars, but harder to find nice ones.” Seriously, the strike quality on S-mints this year ranges from “meh” to “what even is detail?” — so getting one this nice in AU50 is already a win.
She’s still got plenty of luster clinging on, sharp detail in the major devices, and the kind of light wear that says “I briefly existed in the real world, but I cleaned up okay.” No heavy hits, no cleaning, no weird toning that looks like it sat on a radiator for 50 years.
Mintage? 1.7 million-ish.
Survivability in decent grades? LOL.
Registry material? Not quite.
Badass vintage silver with attitude? 100%.

An awesome mid-grade Peace Dollar that didn’t need to be perfect to be collectible, original, and full of Depression-era drama. Throw it in your album, your safe, or your pocket just to flex.
