Issued during the Bahamas' first year of decimal coinage, this beautiful 1966 One Dollar is struck in 80% silver and features one of the most iconic designs in modern world coinage. The reverse showcases a detailed Queen Conch shell surrounded by native marine life and vegetation, while the obverse bears the youthful portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin.
Containing nearly one-half troy ounce of silver, these large crown-sized coins are popular with both world coin collectors and silver investors. The combination of artistic design, precious metal content, and historical significance makes the 1966 Bahamas Dollar a standout addition to any collection.

This is one of my favorite world silver crown designs. They tend to sell well because they combine nearly a half ounce of silver, a large 38.6 mm format, and a distinctive tropical design that appeals to collectors beyond traditional numismatics.
