Popular mid-century Mexican banknote featuring the iconic Tehuana portrait at right, based on the traditional dress of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. The reverse depicts a detailed panoramic view of Guanajuato, one of Mexico’s most historic mining cities. Printed by the American Bank Note Company, this issue is widely regarded as one of the most attractive and recognizable designs of post-war Mexican currency.
This example retains strong color, pleasing eye appeal, and original paper quality. Lightly circulated with a single light fold noted. Minor printer’s ink offset from the production process is present and should not be confused with environmental staining or damage. An attractive collector-grade example displaying excellent detail and strong visual appeal.
A desirable representative of Mexico’s classic mid-century paper money and a popular addition to world currency and Latin American banknote collections.
